And the honest part, up front, because most pages in this industry will not tell you: out of Dubai a nanny does not hold your pet in the cabin. Emirates carries no pets in the cabin at any price, so your animal is in the hold and the nanny is upstairs on the same flight. What that buys you is a professional on the ground at both ends who can act. Whether that is worth paying for depends on your route, and this page will help you decide.
The thing nobody explains
What a nanny can and cannot do out of the UAE
Search "pet nanny" and most of what you will read describes the American domestic model: a nanny buys a seat, puts a small dog in a soft carrier under it, and hands it over at arrivals. That model does not exist out of Dubai. Understanding why takes two minutes and saves a lot of money.
There are two mechanically different ways a pet can fly, and they are not interchangeable:

Out of Dubai, only one of those columns is available. Emirates does not carry pets in the cabin and does not take cats and dogs as checked baggage — they move through Emirates SkyCargo as manifested cargo. So a nanny leaving DXB cannot check your pet in as their own baggage, and cannot hold it in the cabin. The nanny rides the same aircraft while the animal travels as cargo.

The one UAE exception
Etihad carries small cats and dogs in the cabin, but only on its own flights to and from Abu Dhabi. The limits are firm: combined pet and carrier weight up to 8 kg, minimum age 16 weeks, an under-seat carrier of no more than 40 × 40 × 22 cm — or 50 × 43 × 50 cm if you buy an extra seat — and no hard crates in the cabin. The Pets Onboard request goes in online at least seven days before departure with vaccination records, microchip details and the UAE import permit. The fee starts at around USD 200 per pet per flight segment, or 29,000 Etihad Guest Miles; confirm the current figure at booking. Several destinations are excluded outright, including the UK, the United States, Australia and Hong Kong. Anything above the cabin limits travels as manifested cargo with Etihad Cargo.
On that route and within those limits, a nanny genuinely can hold your pet for the whole flight — and we will tell you when your move qualifies. It usually suits a cat or a small dog heading for Europe or Asia rather than the anglophone destinations, which need the long protocols regardless.

What our nanny actually does
Not a courier who meets you at a kerb. A Foufoufly nanny is part of the team that has been running your move since the first call, and the day itself looks like this.

The day before — boarding, not an empty house
Your pet comes to us rather than sitting in a stripped flat while the movers finish. Walk, feed, water, a quiet night, and the crate it has already been sleeping in for weeks.

Lodgement, four to six hours out
Cargo acceptance closes two to four hours before passenger baggage, so the nanny is at the freight terminal long before they check themselves in. Crate checked against the IATA specification, documents against the air waybill, microchip against every certificate. Errors get found here, where they are still fixable.

Handover and loading
Your pet goes into the animal holding area rather than a passenger hall. The nanny confirms loading with the ground handler before boarding — and you get that confirmation, with the flight number, before the doors close.

The flight
The nanny is on the same aircraft. Where a connection is unavoidable they are the person on the ground at the transit point, which is where unaccompanied shipments most often lose time.

Arrival, clearance, collection
Straight to the animal reception facility. The nanny presents the paperwork, attends the veterinary inspection, clears customs and collects your pet in person. Delivery, and a photograph
To the new address, not a terminal kerb. You get a photo of your pet in the new place before the nanny leaves. That is usually the first moment the whole thing stops feeling abstract.
When a nanny is worth the money
You cannot be on that flight
The posting starts before the move finishes, or the flight you are on cannot carry the animal. Cargo is the only mechanism that lets a pet travel without you — a nanny puts a person back into the journey.
The routing has a connection
A direct flight needs less oversight. A transit stop is where shipments sit on a tarmac, miss a re-load, or wait for a handler who has gone home. Somebody physically there changes what can be recovered.
A senior or anxious animal
Where a vet has advised the animal should not be unattended for a long sector. We will not promise how any animal reacts to flying — what we can say is that fewer hours pass with nobody watching.
Paperwork that might be queried
A titre certificate close to its window, a rehoming where the consignee name is not the original owner, an unusual origin country. These get resolved in ten minutes in person and in three days by email.
When you do not need one
A healthy dog or cat on a direct flight, in winter, to a destination with a straightforward protocol, with somebody waiting at the other end — that move does not need accompaniment. Our Managed tier covers the clearance and the delivery, and the animal is in professional hands at every checkpoint regardless. We would rather tell you that than sell you a seat nobody needs.
Sending a pet to somebody else
A large part of what we accompany is not a family moving with their animal. It is a pet travelling to a person — a dog rejoining a family who left ahead of it, a rehoming, a breeder shipment, an animal following an owner who has already started work abroad.
Manifested cargo is the only mechanism that permits this, since both in-cabin and checked baggage require the owner to be physically on the flight. That makes the paperwork the whole game: the consignee named on the air waybill is the only person who can collect the animal, and if that name is wrong — a maiden name, a nickname, a spelling that does not match the passport — nobody at the destination can release your pet. It is the most common and most avoidable delay in this business, and we check it twice.
For these moves a nanny is often the difference between a pet arriving and a pet sitting in a bonded facility over a weekend. The receiving person is frequently unfamiliar with cargo terminals, customs brokers and veterinary inspections. Ours is not.

Due diligence
How to vet any pet nanny — including ours
The budget end of this market is unvetted, uninsured and often a person with a spare weekend. Seven questions separate a professional from a courier. Ask us the same seven.
- On this exact route, will the pet be in the cabin or the hold? If they say cabin for a flight out of Dubai on Emirates, the conversation is over. There is no version of that which is true.
- Who is the named consignee on the air waybill? A professional asks you for a passport spelling. A courier asks for a first name.
- What time is cargo acceptance, and what time is your own check-in? Anyone who does not know that cargo closes two to four hours earlier has not done this.
- What happens if the pet is refused at acceptance? Undersized crate, paperwork query, temperature at the destination. You want a stated plan, not reassurance.
- Who clears customs at the destination, and are they a broker you have used before? "We'll sort it there" is not an answer.
- What insurance is in place, and what does it actually cover? Read the exclusions. Live animal cover is narrower than most people assume.
- Will the same person be with the animal from collection to delivery? Handovers between strangers are where accountability disappears.
We would rather you asked those questions of everybody, including us, than picked on price and found out on the day. The IATA Live Animals Regulations set the container and handling standard that a competent operator works to; ask which edition they are working from.

What accompaniment costs
Nanny accompaniment is included in our White Glove tier, from AED 15,000, alongside pre-flight boarding, live checkpoint updates and a destination settling-in visit. On the Managed tier, from AED 8,000, it is priced as an add-on against the actual route — because the cost is mostly a human being's airfare and time, and Manchester is not Melbourne.
For context, independent international nanny services in the open market typically run around USD 1,000–3,000, covering airfare, airline pet fees, supplies and the nanny's time, with hand delivery beyond the airport often adding USD 50–200. Our figure is quoted inside one fixed price for the whole move rather than as a separate invoice, and there is no mark-up on the airfare.

Will the nanny hold my pet during the flight?
Not out of Dubai. Emirates carries no pets in the cabin and does not accept cats and dogs as checked baggage, so your animal travels as manifested cargo in the hold while the nanny is on the same aircraft. In-cabin accompaniment is possible on a carrier and route that permits it — Etihad from Abu Dhabi, for pets up to 8 kg including the carrier — and we confirm which applies to your route before you book.
What is the difference between accompanied baggage and cargo?
Accompanied baggage ties your pet to a passenger's ticket and itinerary, requires that person to be on the flight, and checks in at the passenger terminal. Manifested cargo moves the pet on its own air waybill, can travel apart from you, and is lodged at the freight terminal where acceptance closes two to four hours earlier — but the animal waits in an animal-only facility rather than a passenger hall. Only cargo allows a pet to fly unaccompanied.
Can my pet fly without me at all?
Yes, as manifested cargo — and that is the only way it is possible, because in-cabin and checked-baggage carriage both require the owner to be physically on the flight. The critical detail is the consignee named on the air waybill: that is the only person who can collect the animal, and the name must match their identification exactly.

Do I need a nanny, or is Managed enough?

Anyone promising cabin carriage out of Dubai on Emirates is not being straight with you.
